§6.1Ἀκούσατε δὴ λόγον. κύριος Κύριος εἶπεν Ἀνάστηθι κρίθητι πρὸς τὰ ὄρη, καὶ ἀκουσάτωσαν οἱ βουνοὶ φωνήν σου. §6.2ἀκούσατε, λαοί, τὴν κρίσιν τοῦ κυρίου, καὶ αἱ φάραγγες θεμέλια τῆς γῆς, ὅτι κρίσις τῷ κυρίῳ πρὸς τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ μετὰ τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ δίελεγχθήσεται.
Hear now a word: the Lord, the Lord said, "Arise, plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice." Hear, O peoples, the controversy of the Lord, and you valleys, the foundations of the earth; for the Lord has a controversy with his people, and he will contend with Israel.
§6.3λαός μου, τί ἐποίησά σοι, ἡ τί ἐλύπησά σε, ἡ τί παρηνώχλησά σοι;
O my people, what have I done to you? Or wherein have I grieved you, or wherein have I weary you?
ἀποκρίθητί μοι.
Answer me.
§6.4διότι ἀνήγαγόν σε ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου, καὶ ἐξ οἴκου δουλίας ἐλυτρωσάμην σε, καὶ ἐξαπέστειλα πρὸ προσώπου σου τὸν Μωσῆν καὶ Ἀαρὼν καὶ Μαριάμ.
For I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, and I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
§6.5λαός μου, μνήσθητι δὴ τί ἐβουλεύσατο κατὰ σοῦ Βαλὰκ βασιλεὺς Μωάβ, καὶ τί ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ Βαλαὰμ υἱὸς τοῦ Βεὼρ ἀπὸ τῶν σχοίνων ἕως τοῦ Γαλγάλ, ὅπως γνωσθῇ ἡ δικαιοσύνη τοῦ κυρίου.
O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab planned, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from the rushes to Gilgal, so that the righteousness of the Lord may be known.
§6.6ἐν τίνι καταλάβω τὸν κύριον, ἀντιλήμψομαι θεοῦ μου Γψίστου;
With what shall I reach the Lord, and bow myself before my God on high?
εἰ καταλήμψομαι αὐτὸν ἐν ὁλοκαυτώμασιν ἐν μόσχοις ἐνιαυσίοις;
Shall I reach him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?
§6.7εἰ προσδέξεται Κύριος ἐν χιλιάσιν κριῶν ἤ ἐν μυριάσιν χιμάραον πιόνων;
Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with tens of thousands of fat goats?
εἰ δὰι πρωτότοκά μου ἀσεβείας, καρπὸν κοιλίας μου ὑπέρ ἁμαρτίας ψυχῆς μου;
Shall I give my firstborn for my impiety, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
§6.8εἰ ἀνηγγέλη σοι, ἄνθρωπε, τί καλόν;
Has it not been told you, O man, what is good?
ἡ τί Κύριος ἐκζητεῖ παρὰ σοῦ ἀλλʼ ἡ τοῦ ποιεῖν κρίμα καὶ ἀγαπᾶν ἔλεον καὶ ἕτοιμον εἶναι τοῦ πορεύεσθαι μετὰ Κυρίου θεοῦ σου;
And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to be ready to walk with the Lord your God?
§6.9Φωνὴ Κυρίου τῇ πόλει ἐπικληθήσεται, καὶ σώσει φοβουμένους τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ.
The voice of the Lord shall be called to the city, and he shall save those who fear his name.
ἄκουε, φυλή, καὶ τίς κοσμήσει πόλιν; §6.10μὴ πῦρ καὶ οἰκὸς ἀνόμου θησαυρίζων θησαυροὺς ἀνόμους, καὶ μετὰ ὕβρεως ἀδικία;
"Hear, O tribe, and who shall adorn the city?" Is there yet fire and the house of the wicked treasuring up wicked treasures, and injustice with pride?
§6.11εζ ὄικαιωθήσεται ἐν ζυγῷ ἄνομος, καὶ ἐν μαρσίππῳ στάθμια δόλου;
Shall the wicked be justified with an unjust balance, and with a bag of deceitful weights?
§6.12ἐξ ὧν τὸν πλοῦτον αὐτῶν ἀσεβείας ἔπλησαν, καὶ οἱ κατοικοῦντες αὐτὴν ἐλάλουν ψεύδη, καὶ ἡ γλῶσσα αὐτῶν, ὑψώθητι ἐν τῷ στόματι αὐτῶν.
By which they filled their wealth with impiety, and her inhabitants spoke lies, and their tongue was exalted in their mouth.
§6.13καὶ ἐγὼ ἄρξομαι τοῦ πατάξαι σε, ἀφανιῶ σε ἐν ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις σου.
Therefore I also will begin to strike you; I will utterly destroy you in your sins.
§6.14σὺ φάγεσαι καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐμπλησθῇς, καὶ σκοτάσει ἐν σοὶ καὶ ἐκνεύσει, καὶ σὺ οὐ μὴ διασωθῇς, καὶ ὅσοι ἐὰν διασωθῶσιν εἰς όομφαίαν παραδοθήσονται·
You shall eat and not be satisfied, and there shall be darkness in you and a turning away; and you shall not escape, and as many as escape shall be delivered to the sword.
§6.15σὺ σ περεῖς καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀμήσῃς. σὺ πιέσεις ἐλαίαν καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀλείψῃ ἕλαιον, καὶ οἰνον καὶ οὐ μὴ πίητε, καὶ ἀφανισθήσεται νόμιμα λαοῦ μου.
You shall sow and not reap; you shall tread the olive and not anoint yourself with oil, and the wine and you shall not drink; and the ordinances of my people shall be destroyed.
§6.16καὶ ἐφύλαξας τὰ δικαιώματα Ζαμβρεὶ καὶ πάντα τὰ ἔργα οἴκου Ἀχαάβ, καὶ ἐπορεύθητε ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτῶν, ὅπως παραδῶ σε εἰς ἀφανισμὸν καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας αὐτὴν εἰς συρισμόν, καὶ ὀνείδη λαῶν λήψεσθε.
And you have kept the ordinances of Zambri and all the works of the house of Ahab, and you walked in their ways, so that I might deliver you to destruction and her inhabitants to hissing; and you shall bear the reproach of nations.
