LII. They also appoint by lot the Eleven who are to take care of those in the prison, and to lead away the thieves, kidnappers, and clothes-stealers, whom they are to punish with death if they confess, but if they dispute it, they are to bring them into the court; and if they are acquitted, they are to release them, but if not, they are to put them to death then; and to bring the registered lands and houses into the court, and those decided to be public property they are to hand over to the sellers (poletae); and they are to bring in the indictments (endeixeis)—for these too are brought in by the Eleven.

However, some of the indictments are also brought in by the lawgivers (thesmothetae).
κληροῦσι δὲ καὶ εἰσαγωγέας εݲ ἄνδρας, οἳ τὰς ἐμμήνους εἰσάγουσι δίκας, δυοῖν φυλαῖν ἕκαστος.
And they allot five men as introducers (eisagogeis), who bring in the monthly suits, each for two tribes.

The monthly suits are those of dowry, if someone owes it and does not pay it back, and if someone borrows money at an interest of a drachma and refuses to pay, and if someone in the market, wishing to trade, borrows starting capital from someone; further, those of assault (aikeia), and [Interpolated scholia and lexica text:...handed over, having the authority to punish with death those who confessed to the crimes, but as for those who disputed them, they kept them in the prison until trial.

Photius and Suda have the same gloss under 'jurisdiction of court': not all suits were permitted to all magistrates to bring in, but... to the Eleven, as many as bring in robbers, clothes-stealers, and kidnappers.

These officials, then, judge these, bringing them in as monthly suits; but the receivers (apodektai) bring in those concerning tax-collectors and against tax-collectors, being competent to decide matters up to ten drachmae, but bringing the others into court as monthly suits.
