1. §33.8.13.praliter atque si — A conditional clause introduced by the conjunctional phrase 'aliter atque si' (otherwise than if). It contrasts with Julian's preceding statement (where the legacy of a peculium becomes void if the slave dies before the testator) to imply that a different rule applies to the bequest of a 'clothed slave' (seruus uestitus).
