§1717.
17.
And it itself has run underneath the foot below the tarsus.
And having woven there and having inserted a double blood-filled vessel into the great toe, it bends back from the tarsus above under the skin, and appears thickened along the outer part of the ankle, and is distributed upward along the fibula opposite the shinbone; and along the calf it has made a sort of sling; and from there it is stretched along the inner part of the knee; and it has also cast vessels upon the kneecap, and along the inner side of the kneecap it has interwoven a hollowed vessel; which if anyone injures, it very quickly gathers bilious ichor.
And it itself has rushed along the inner and hollow part of the knee; and it has also shed into the hams complex vessels, which stretching from there along the tendons underneath the thigh are rooted into the testicles and into the rectum, and around the sacrum, having become thin and united, they are stretched around.
§1818.
18.
And the one arriving from the inner part of the knee, ascending along the inner part of the thigh, goes to the groin, and through the hip beyond toward the spine, having the psoas muscle on the outside, thick and broad and full of blood, it reaches upward toward the liver; and having sprouted a bloody branch, it occupies the kidney [and] the right hepatic lobe.
And this, having formed a bed under the liver, is split into a thick vessel; and the one bent away is grown into the thick part of the liver; and its superficial part is grown upon the organ in which is the bile, being many-rooted and interwoven through the liver; and the other part is channeled through its inner parts.
And two vessels have spread out between the two broad lobes; and one indeed, passing through the summits and the skin, is suspended from the umbilicus; and the other, pressing against the spine and into the kidney, is anchored into the bladder and the penis.
And beginning to ascend from the hip to the abdomen, it has branched off many vessels; and it has linked like rings the ribs and the vertebrae to the spine, and has opened these as lateral branches, and has wrapped around the intestines and the belly.
And those from the abdomen, reaching toward the breasts and above the chin and the shoulders, are woven down; and the one arriving along the thick part of the liver and drawing off the bile through a pipe is distributed upward under the spine, having made its way through the diaphragm.
And the vessel from the left is rooted with the same nature in other respects as the one on the right, but ascending from the left it does not empty into the liver, but is grown into the spleen near its head in its thick part; and from there it sinks into the interior and has woven like a spider-web through the spleen with bloody small vessels; and the whole spleen is suspended from the omentum by the small vessels coming from itself, having filled it with blood.
And those from the head of the spleen, pressing against the spine, have rushed through the diaphragm.
§1919.
19.
And from there downward, both the right and the left are driven under the lung; and being bloody, they channel under it into it.
And being low in blood and thin, those coming from the inside of the lung, since it is porous by nature, into the heart, as if drawn out by it, are bridled around its auricles, and have flowed into the inner cavities.
And both the former and these empty into it; for it is established in a narrow pass of the passage, holding as it were the reins from the whole body; wherefore also sensation of the whole body is mostly around the chest.
And the changes of colors occur, when this constricts the vessels and relaxes them; when relaxing indeed, the colors become red, well-complexioned, and transparent; but when contracting, pale and livid; and such things vary according to the colors present in each.
