§3.1Προσευχὴ Ἁμβακοὺμ τοῦ προφήτου μετὰ ᾠδῆς.
A prayer of Ambakum the prophet, with a song.
§3.2²Κύριε, εἰσακήκοα τὴν ἀκοήν σου, καὶ ἐφοβήθην· κατενόησα τὰ ἔργα σου, καὶ ἐξέστην.
²Lord, I have heard your report, and was afraid; I considered your works, and was amazed.
ἐν μέσῳ δύο ζῴων γνωσθήσῃ,
ἐν τῷ ἐγγίζειν τὰ ἔτη ἐπιγνωσθήσῃ· ἐν τῷ παρεῖναι τὸν καιρὸν ἀναδειχθήσῃ· ἐν τῷ ταραχθῆναι τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐν ὀργῇ ἐλέους μνησθήσῃ.
In the midst of two living creatures you shall be known; when the years draw nigh you shall be recognized; when the time is present you shall be shown forth; when my soul is troubled in anger, you shall remember mercy.
§3.33ὁ θεὸς ἐκ Θαιμὰν ἥξει,
καὶ ὁ ἅγιος ἐξ ὄρους Φαρὰν κατασκίου δασέος. διάψαλμα.
3God shall come from Teman, and the Holy One from the thick, shady mount Paran. [Diapsalma].
ἐκάλυψεν οὐρανοὺς ἡ ἀρετὴ αὐτοῦ,
καὶ αἰνέσεως αὐτοῦ πλήρης ἡ γῆ.
His glory covered the heavens, and the earth is full of his praise.
§3.4⁴καὶ φέγγος αὐτοῦ ὡς φῶς ἔσται· κέρατα ἐν χερσὶν αὐτοῦ,
καὶ ἔθετο ἀγάπησιν κραταιὰν ἰσχύος αὐτοῦ.
⁴And his brightness shall be as the light; horns are in his hands, and he established a mighty love of his strength.
§3.55πρὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ πορεύσεται λόγος καὶ ἐξελεύσεται
εἰς πεδία·
5Before his face a word shall go, and it shall go forth into the plains.
§3.66κατὰ πόδας αὐτοῦ ⁶ἔστη, καὶ ἐσαλεύθη ἡ γῆ· ἐπέβλεψεν, καὶ διετάκη ἔθνη,
διεθρύβη τὰ ὄρη βίᾳ,
ἐτάκησαν βουνοὶ αἰώνιοι πορείας αἰωνίας αὐτοῦ.
6At his feet he stood, and the earth was shaken; he looked, and the nations melted away; the mountains were broken by force, the everlasting hills melted, his everlasting ways.
§3.7⁷ἀντὶ κόπων εἶδον σκηνώματα Αἰθιόπων· πτοηθήσονται καὶ αἱ σκηναὶ γῆς Μαδιάμ.
⁷I saw the tents of the Ethiopians because of troubles; the curtains of the land of Madiam also shall be terrified.
§3.88μὴ ἐν ποταμοῖς ὠργίσθης, Κύριε;
8Were you angry with the rivers, Lord?
ἢ ἐν ποταμοῖς ὁ θυμός σου; ἢ ἐν θαλάσσῃ τὸ ὅρμημά σου; ὅτι ἐπιβήσῃ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἵππους σου,
καὶ ἡ ἱππασία σου σωτηρία.
Or was your wrath against the rivers, or your rage against the sea, that you should ride upon your horses, and your riding is salvation?
§3.9⁹ἐντείνων ἐνέτεινας τόξον σου ἐπὶ σκῆπτρα, λέγει Κύριος. διάψαλμα.
⁹You didst surely bend your bow against sceptres, says the Lord. [Diapsalma].
ποταμῶν ῥαγήσεται γῆ, §3.10¹⁰ὄψονταί σε καὶ ὠδινήσουσιν λαοί. σκορπίζων ὕδατα πορείας· ἔδωκεν ἡ ἄβυσσος φωνὴν αὐτῆς,
ὕψος φαντασίας αὐτῆς. διάψαλμα.
The earth shall be rent with rivers, ¹⁰The peoples shall see you and travail; dispersing the waters of its passage, the abyss uttered its voice, the height of its illusion. [Diapsalma].
§3.11ἐπήρθη ¹¹ὁ ἥλιος, καὶ ἡ σελήνη ἔστη ἐν τῇ τάξει αὐτῆς· εἰς φῶς βολίδες σου πορεύσονται,
εἰς φέγγος ἀστραπῆς ὅπλων σου.
The sun was lifted up, ¹¹and the moon stood in her order; your arrows shall go into light, into the brightness of the lightning of your weapons.
§3.12¹²ἐν ἀπειλῇ ὀλιγώσεις γῆν,
καὶ ἐν θυμῷ κατάξεις ἔθνη.
¹²In threat you will bring low the earth, and in wrath you will break down the nations.
§3.13¹³ἐξῆλθες εἰς σωτηρίαν λαοῦ σου,
τοῦ σῶσαι τὸν χριστόν σου· βαλεῖς εἰς κεφαλὰς ἀνόμων θάνατον,
ἐξήγειρας δεσμοὺς ἕως τραχήλου. διάψαλμα.
¹³You went forth for the salvation of your people, to save your anointed; you will cast death upon the heads of the lawless; you raised up bonds even to the neck. [Diapsalma].
§3.14¹⁴διέκοψας ἐν ἐκστάσει κεφαλὰς δυναστῶν,
σεισθήσονται ἐν αὐτῇ· διανοίξουσιν χαλινοὺς αὐτῶν ὡς ἔσθων πτωχὸς λάθρα.
¹⁴You didst cut through in amazement the heads of the rulers; they shall be shaken in it; they shall open their bridles as a poor man eating secretly.
§3.15¹⁵καὶ ἐπιβιβᾶς εἰς θάλασσαν τοὺς ἵππους σου
ταράσσοντας ὕδωρ πολύ.
¹⁵And you will cause your horses to go into the sea, troubling many waters.
§3.16¹⁶ἐφυλαξάμην, καὶ ἐπτοήθη ἡ κοιλία μου
ἀπὸ φωνῆς προσευχῆς χειλέων μου,
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν τρόμος εἰς τὰ ὀστᾶ μου,
καὶ ὑποκάτωθέν μου ἐταράχθη ἡ ἕξις μου.
¹⁶I watched, and my belly trembled because of the voice of the prayer of my lips, and trembling entered into my bones, and my habit was troubled under me.
ἀναπαύσομαι ἐν ἡμέρᾳ θλίψεως
τοῦ ἀναβῆναι εἰς λαὸν παροικίας μου.
I will rest in the day of trouble, to go up to the people of my sojourning.
§3.17¹7διότι συκῆ οὐ καρποφορήσει,
καὶ οὐκ ἔσται γενήματα ἐν ταῖς ἀμπέλοις· ψεύσεται ἔργον ἐλαίας,
καὶ τὰ πεδία οὐ ποιήσει βρῶσιν· ἐξέλιπεν ἀπὸ βρώσεως πρόβατα,
καὶ οὐχ ὑπάρχουσιν βόες ἐπὶ φάτναις.
¹7For the fig tree shall not bear fruit, and there shall be no produce on the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall produce no food; the sheep have failed from the pasture, and there are no oxen at the cribs.
§3.18¹⁸ἐγὼ δὲ ἐν τῷ κυρίῳ ἀγαλλιάσομαι. χαρήσομαι ἐπὶ τῷ θεῷ τῷ σωτῆρί μου.
¹⁸Yet I will exult in the Lord, I will joy in God my savior.
§3.19¹9Κύριος ὁ θεὸς δύναμίς μου,
καὶ τάξει τοὺς πόδας μου εἰς συντέλειαν· ἐπὶ τὰ ὑψηλὰ ἐπιβιβᾷ με
τοῦ νικῆσαι ἐν τῇ ᾠδῇ αὐτοῦ.
¹9The Lord God is my strength, and he will set my feet completely; he will cause me to go up on the high places, to conquer in his song.
