§2.1ʼΕγένοντο λογιζόμενοι κόπους καὶ ἐργαζόμενοι κακὰ ἐν ταῖς κοίταῖς αὐτῶν, καὶ ἄμα τῇ ἡμέρᾳ συνετέλουν αὐτά, διότι οὐκ ἥραν πρὸς τὸν θεὸν τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν·
They became those who devise troubles and work evil on their beds, and at the break of day they performed them, because they did not lift up their hands to God.
§2.2καὶ ἐπεθύμουν ἀγρούς, καὶ διήρπαζον ὀρφανούς, καὶ οἴκους κατεδυνάστευον, καὶ διήρπαζον ἄνδρα καὶ τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἄνδρα καὶ τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτοῦ.
And they coveted fields, and plundered orphans, and oppressed houses, and plundered a man and his house, and a man and his inheritance.
§2.3διὰ τοῦτο λέγει Κύριος Ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ λογίζομαι ἐπὶ τὴν φυλὴν ταύτην κακά, ἐξ ὦν οὐ μὴ ἄρητε τοὺς τραχήλους ὑμῶν, καὶ οὐ μὴ πορευθῆτε ὄρθοὶ ἐξαίφνης, ὅτι καιρὸς πονηρός ἐστιν.
Therefore thus says the Lord, "Behold, I devise evil against this family, from which you shall not remove your necks, and you shall not walk upright suddenly, for it is an evil time.
§2.4Ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ λημφθήσεται ἐφʼ ὑμᾶς παραβολή, καὶ θρηνηθήσεται θρῆνος ἐν μέλει λέγων αλαιπωρίᾳ ἐταλαιπωρήσαμεν· μερὶς λαοῦ μου κατεμετρήθη ἐν σχοινίῳ, καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὁ κωλύσων αὐτὸν τοῦ ἀποστρέψαι· οἱ ἀγροὶ ἡμῶν διεμερίσθησαν. §2.5διὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἔσται σοι βάλλων σχοινίον ἐν κλήρῳ ἐν ἐκκλησίᾳ Κυρίου.
In that day a parable shall be taken up against you, and a lamentation shall be lamented with a song, saying, 'We are utterly ruined; the portion of my people has been measured out with a line, and there was none to prevent him from turning back; our fields have been divided.' Therefore you shall have none to stretch a line by lot in the assembly of the Lord.
§2.6μὴ κλαίετε δάκρυσιν, μηδέ δακρυέτωσαν ἐπὶ τούτοις· οὐ γὰρ ἀπώσεται ὀνείδη §2.7ὁ λέγων Οἶκος Ἰακὼβ παρώργισεν πνεῦμα Κυρίου. εἰ ταῦτα τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα αὐτοῦ ἐστίν;
Do not weep with tears, nor let them weep for these things; for he will not repel reproaches, O you who say, 'The house of Jacob has provoked the Spirit of the Lord to anger.' Are these his doings?
οὐχ οἱ λόγοι αὐτοῦ εἰσὶν καλοὶ μετʼ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ὀρθοὶ πεπόρευνται;
Are not his words good with him, and have they not walked uprightly?
§2.8καὶ ἔμπροσθεν ὁ λαός μου εἰς ἔχθραν ἀντέστη· κατέναντι τῆς εἰρήνης αὐτοῦ τὴν δορὰν αὐτοῦ ἐξέδειραν, τοῦ ἀφελέσθαι ἐλπίδα συντριμμὸν πολέμου.
But lately my people has stood up as an enemy; against his peace they stripped off his skin, to take away the hope of crushing of war.
§2.9ἡγούμενοι λαοῦ μου ἀποριφήσονται ἐκ τῶν οἰκιῶν τρυφῆς αὐτῶν, διὰ τὰ πονηρὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα αὐτῶν ἐξώσθησαν.
The leaders of my people shall be cast out from their luxurious houses; because of their evil practices they were driven out.
ἐγγίσατε ὄρεσιν αἰωνίοις·
Draw near to the everlasting mountains.
§2.10ἀνάστηθι καὶ πορεύου, ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν σοι αὕτη ἀνάπαυσις ἕνεκεν ἀκαθαρσίας. διεφθάρητε φθόρῳ,
Arise, and depart, for this is not your rest because of uncleanness; you are utterly destroyed with destruction.
§2.11κατεδιώχθητε οὐδενὸς διώκοντος· πνεῦμα ἔστησεν ψεῦδος, ἐστάλαξέν σοι εἰς οἶνον καὶ μέθυσμα.
You were pursued, though no one pursued; a spirit established falsehood, it dripped for thee into wine and strong drink.
καὶ ἔσται ἐκ τῆς σταγόνος τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου §2.12συναγόμενος συναχθήσεται Ἰακὼβ σὺν πᾶσιν· ἐκδεχόμενος ἐκδέξομαι τοὺς καταλοίπους τοῦ Ἰσραήλ, ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ θήσομαι τὴν ἀποστροφὴν αὐτοῦ·
And it shall be of the drop of this people: Jacob shall be utterly assembled with all; I will surely receive the remnant of Israel, I will bring back their return together.
ὡς πρόβατα ἐν θλίψει, ὡς ποίμνιον ἐν μέσῳ κοίτης αὐτῶν ἐξαλοῦνται ἐξ ἀνθρώπων·
As sheep in affliction, as a flock in the midst of their fold, they shall leap forth from among men.
§2.13διὰ τῆς διακοπῆς πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν διέκοψαν, καὶ διῆλθον πύλην καὶ ἐξῆλθον δι᾿ αὐτῆς, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ὁ βασιλεὺς αὐτῶν πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν, ὁ δὲ κύριος ἡγήσεται αὐτῶν.
Through the breach before them they have broken through, and have passed through the gate and gone out by it, and their king has gone out before them, and the Lord shall lead them."
