§7.1ἐν τῷ ἰάσασθαί με τὸν Ἰσραήλ. καὶ ἀποκαλυφθήσεται ἡ ἀδικία Ἐφράιμ καὶ ἡ κακία Σαμαρείας, ὅτι ἠργάσαντο ψευδῆ· καὶ κλέπτης πρὸς αὐτὸν εἰσελεύσεται, ἐκδιδύσκων λῃστὴς ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ αὐτοῦ,
When I heal Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim and the wickedness of Samaria shall be revealed, for they have wrought falsehood; and a thief shall come in to him, a robber stripping on his way.
§7.2ὅπως συνᾴδωσιν ὡς ᾄδοντες τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῶυ. πάσας τὰς κακίας αὐτῶν ἐμνήσθην·
That they may sing in harmony like those who sing in their heart; I have remembered all their wickedness.
νῦν ἐκύκλωσαν αὐτοὺς τὰ διαβούλια αὐτῶν, ἀπέναντι τοῦ προσώπου μου ἐγένοντο.
Now their counsels have surrounded them, they have come before my face.
§7.3ἐν ταῖς κακίαις αὐτῶυ εὔφραναν βασιλεῖς, καὶ ἐν τοῖς ψεύδεσιν αὐτῶν ἄρχοντας·
In their wickedness they gladdened kings, and in their falsehoods, rulers.
§7.4πάντες μοιχεύοντες, ὡς κλίβανος καιόμενος εἰς πέψιν κατακαύματος ἀπὸ τῆς φλογός, ἀπὸ φυράσεως στέατος, ἕως τοῦ ζυμωθῆναι αὐτό.
They are all adulterers, like an oven burning for the baking of a cake from the flame, from the kneading of the dough until it is leavened.
§7.5ἡμέραι τῶυ βασιλέων ὑμῶν, ἤρξαντο οἱ ἄρχοντες θυμοῦσθαι ἐξ οἴνου, ἐξέτεινεν τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ μετὰ λοιμῶν·
On the days of your kings, the rulers began to be enraged with wine; he stretched out his hand with pestilent fellows.
§7.6διότι ἀνεκαύθησαν ὡς κλίβανος αἱ καρδίαι αὐτῶν, ἐν τῷ καταράσσειν αὐτοὺς ὅλην τὴν νύκτα ὕπνου Ἐφράιμ ἐνεπλήσθηπρωὶ ἐνεγενήθη, ἀνεκαύθη ὡς πυρὸς φέγγος.
For their hearts were heated like an oven when they attacked them; all the night Ephraim was filled with sleep; in the morning it was brought forth, it burned like a flaming fire.
§7.7πάντες ἐθερμάνθησαν ὡς κλίβανος, καὶ κατέφαγον τοὺς κριτὰς αὐτῶν· πάντες οἱ βασιλεῖς αὐτῶν ἔπεσαν, οὐκ ἦν ὁ ἐπικαλούμενος ἐν αὐτοῖς πρὸς μέ.
They were all heated like an oven, and devoured their judges; all their kings fell, there was none among them who called upon me.
§7.8Ἐφράιμ ἐν τοῖς λαοῖς αὐτοῦ συνεμίγνυτο, Ἐφράιμ ἐγένετο ἐνκρυφίας οὐ μεταστρεφόμενος·
Ephraim was mixed among his peoples; Ephraim became a hearth-cake not turned.
§7.9κατέφαγον ἀλλότριοι τὴν ἰσχὺν αὐτοῦ, αὐτὸς δὲ οὐκ ἔγνω, καὶ πολιαὶ ἐξήνθησαν αὐτῷ, καὶ αὐτὸς οὐκ ἔγνω.
Strangers devoured his strength, but he did not know; and gray hairs blossomed on him, but he did not know.
§7.10καὶ ταπεινωθήσεται ἡ ὕβρις Ἰσραὴλ εἰς πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐκ ἐπέστρεψαν πρὸς Κύριον τὸν θεὸν αὐτῶν, καὶ οὐκ ἐξεζήτησαν αὐτὸν ἐν πᾶσι τούτοις.
And the pride of Israel shall be humbled to his face; yet they have not returned to the Lord their God, nor have they sought him for all this.
§7.11καὶ ἦν Ἐφράιμ ὡς περιστερὰ ἄνους, οὐκ ἔχουσα καρδίαν· Αἵγυπτον ἐπεκαλεῖτο, καὶ εἰς Ἀσσυρίους ἐπορεύθησαν.
And Ephraim was like a silly dove, having no heart; she called upon Egypt, and they went to the Assyrians.
§7.12καθὼς ἂν πορεύωνται ἐπιβαλῶ ἐπʼ αὐτοὺς τὸ δίκτυόν μου, καθὼς τά πετεινά τοῦ οὐρανοῦ κατάξω αὐτούς, παιδεύσω αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἀκοῇ τῆς θλίψεως αὐτῶν.
Wherever they may go, I will cast my net upon them; I will bring them down like the birds of heaven; I will discipline them by the report of their affliction.
§7.13οὐαὶ αὐτοῖς, ὅτι ἀπεπήδησαν ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ· δείλαιοί εἰσιν, ὅτι ἠσέβησαν εἰς ἐμέ·
Woe to them, for they have started away from me; they are miserable, because they have behaved impiously toward me.
ἐγὼ δὲ ἐλυτρωσάμην αὐτούς, αὐτοὶ δὲ κατελάλησαν κατʼ ἐμοῦ ψευδῆ.
Though I redeemed them, they spoke lies against me.
§7.14καὶ οὐκ ἐβόησαν πρὸς μέ αἱ καρδίαι αὐτῶν, ἀλλ᾿ ἡ ὠλόλυζον ἐν ταῖς κοίταις αὐτῶν· ἐπὶ σίτῳ καὶ οἴνῳ κατετέμνοντο.
And their hearts did not cry to me, but they wailed on their beds; they cut themselves for wheat and wine.
§7.15ἐπαιδεύθησαν ἐν ἐμοί, κἀγὼ κατίσχυσα τοὺς βραχίονας αὐτῶν, καὶ εἰς ἐμέ ἐλογίσαντο πονηρά.
They were disciplined by me, and I strengthened their arms; yet they devised evil against me.
§7.16ἀπεστράφησαν εἰς οὐθέν, ἐγένοντο ὡς τόξον ἐντεταμένον·
They turned back to nothing; they became like a bent bow.
πεσοῦνται ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ οἱ ἄρχοντες αὐτῶν δι᾿ ἀπαιδευσίαν γλώσσης αὐτῶν· οὗτος ὁ φαυλισμὸς αὐτῶν ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ.
Their rulers shall fall by the sword because of the untutured state of their tongue; this is their derision in the land of Egypt.
