§13.1¹Καὶ Τωβεὶτ ἔγραψεν προσευχὴν εἰς ἀγαλλίασιν καὶ εἶπεν
Εὐλογητὸς ὁ θεὸς ὁ ζῶν εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας καὶ ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ, §13.2²ὅτι αὐτὸς μαστιγοῖ καὶ ἐλεῷ, κατάγει εἰς ᾃδην καὶ ἀνάγει,
καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ὃς ἐκφεύξεται τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ.
¹And Tobit wrote a prayer of rejoicing, and said: "Blessed be God who lives forever, and his kingdom, ²For he scourges and has mercy; he leads down to Hades and brings up again, and there is no one who can escape his hand.
§13.3³ἐξομολογεῖσθε αὐτῷ, οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραήλ, ἐνώπιον τῶν ἐθνῶν,
(4)ὅτι αὐτὸς διέσπειρεν ἡμᾶς ἐν αὐτοῖς.
³Acknowledge him, O sons of Israel, before the nations, (4)for he has scattered us among them.
§13.44ἐκεῖ ὑποδείξατε τὴν μεγαλωσύνην αὐτοῦ,
ὑψοῦτε αὐτὸν ἐνώπιον παντὸς ζῶντος· καθότι αὐτὸς κύριος ἡμῶν,
καὶ θεὸς αὐτὸς πατὴρ ἡμῶν εἰς πάντας τοὺς αἰῶνας.
4There declare his greatness, and exalt him before all the living; because he is our Lord, and he is God our Father forever.
§13.55καὶ μαστιγώσει ἡμᾶς ἐν ταῖς ἀδικίαις ἡμῶν,
καὶ πάλιν ἐλεήσει καὶ συνάξει ἡμᾶς ἐκ πάντων τῶν
ἐθνῶν,
οὗ ἐὰν σκορπισθῆτε ἐν αὐτοῖς.
5He will scourge us for our iniquities, and will again have mercy, and will gather us from all the nations among whom you have been scattered.
§13.66ἐὰν ἐπιστρέψητε πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐν ὅλη καρδίᾳ ὑμῶν καὶ ἐν
ὅλῃ τῆ ψυχῇ
ποιῆσαι ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ ἀλήθειαν,
τότε ἐπιστρέψει πρὸς ὑμᾶς
καὶ οὐ μὴ κρύψῃ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἀφʼ ὑμῶν. (6)καὶ θεάσασθε ὁ ποιήσει μεθʼ ὑμῶν,
καὶ ἐξομολογήσασθε αὐτῷ ἐν ὅλῳ τῷ σώματι ὑμῶν· καὶ εὐλογήσατε τὸν κύριον τῆς δικαιοσύνης,
καὶ ὑψώσατε τὸν βασιλέα τῶν αἰώνων. (7)ἐγὼ ἐν τῇ γῇ τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας μου ἐξομολογοῦμαι αὐτῷ,
καὶ δεικνύω τὴν ἰσχὺν καὶ τὴν μεγαλωσύνην αὐτοῦ ἔθνη
ἁμαρτωλῶν. (8)ἐπιστρέψατε, ἁμαρτωλοί, καὶ ποιήσατε δικαιοσύνην ἐνώπιον
αὐτοῦ· τίς γινώσκει εἰ θελήσει ὑμᾶς καὶ ποιήσει ἐλεημοσύνην
ὑμῖν;
6If you turn to him with all your heart and with all your soul, to do truth before him, then he will turn to you and will not hide his face from you. (6)And see what he will do with you, and acknowledge him with your whole body; and bless the Lord of righteousness, and exalt the King of the ages. (7)I, in the land of my captivity, acknowledge him, and show his strength and his majesty to a nation of sinners. (8)Turn, you sinners, and do righteousness before him; who knows if he will accept you and show mercy to you?
§13.77τὸν θεόν μου ὑψῶ,
καὶ ἡ ψυχῇ μου τῷ βασιλεῖ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ,
καὶ ἀγαλλιάσεται τὴν μεγαλωσύνην αὐτοῦ.
7I exalt my God, and my soul [exalts] the King of heaven, and will rejoice in his greatness.
§13.88λεγέτωσαν πάντες καὶ ἐξομολογείσθωσαν αὐτῷ ἐν
Ἰεροσολύμοις.
8Let all speak, and let them acknowledge him in Jerusalem.
§13.99Ἰεροσόλυμα πόλις ἁγίου· μαστιγώσει ἐπὶ τὰ ἔργα τῶν υἱῶν σου,
καὶ πάλιν ἐλεήσει τοὺς υἱοὺς τῶν δικαίων.
9O Jerusalem, holy city, he will scourge thee for the works of thy sons, and will again have mercy on the sons of the righteous.
§13.1010ἐξομολογοῦ τῷ κυρίῳ ἀγαθῶς,
καὶ εὐλόγει τὸν βασιλέα τῶν αἰώνων,
ἵνα πάλιν ἡ σκηνὴ αὐτοῦ οἰκοδομηθῇ σοι μετὰ χαρᾶς
καὶ εὐφράναι ἐν σοὶ τοὺς αἰχμαλώτους
καὶ ἀγαπήσαι ἐν σοὶ τοὺς ταλαιπώρους
εἰς πάσας τὰς γενεὰς τοῦ αἰῶνος.
10Acknowledge the Lord worthily, and bless the King of the ages, so that his tabernacle may be built again in thee with joy, and that he may make glad in thee those who are captives, and love in thee those who are miserable for all generations of the age.
§13.11¹¹ἔθνη πολλὰ μακρόθεν ἥξει πρὸς τὸ ὄνομα Κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ,
δῶρα ἐν χερσὶν ἔχοντες καὶ δῶρα τῷ βασιλεῖ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ· γενεαὶ γενεῶν δώσουσίν σοι ἀγαλλίαμα.
¹¹Many nations will come from afar to the name of the Lord God, bearing gifts in their hands, even gifts to the King of heaven; generations of generations will give thee exultation.
§13.12¹²ἐπικατάρατοι πάντες οἱ μισοῦντές σε,
εὐλογημένοι ἔσονται πάντες οἵ ἀγαπῶντές σε εἰς τὸν
αἰῶνα.
¹²Cursed are all those who hate thee, and blessed shall be all those who love thee forever.
§13.1313χάρηθι καὶ ἀγαλλίασαι ἐπὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς τῶν δικαίων,
ὅτι συναχθήσονται καὶ εὐλογήσουσιν τὸν κύριον τῶν
δικαίων.
13Rejoice and be glad for the sons of the righteous, for they shall be gathered together and shall bless the Lord of the righteous.
§13.14¹⁴ὢ μακάριοι οἱ ἀγαπῶντές σε· χαρήσονται ἐπὶ τῇ εἰρήνῃ σου.
¹⁴O blessed are those who love thee; they shall rejoice in thy peace.
μακάριοι ὅσοι ἐλυπήθησαν ἐπὶ ταῖς μάστιξίν σου,
ὅτι ἐπὶ σοὶ χαρήσονται θεασάμενοι πᾶσαν τὴν δόξαν σου· καὶ εὐφρανθήσεται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἡ ψυχὴ μου.
Blessed are those who were grieved over all thy scourges, for they shall rejoice over thee when they have seen all thy glory; and my soul shall be glad forever.
§13.1515εὐλόγει τὸν θεὸν τὸν βασιλέα τὸν μέγαν,
15Bless God, the great King.
§13.1616ἔτι οἰκοδομηθήσεται Ἰερουσαλὴμ σαπφείρῳ καὶ
σμαράγδῳ,
καὶ λίθῳ ἐντίμῳ τὰ τείχη σου,
καὶ οἱ πύργοι καὶ οἱ προμαχῶνες χρυσίῳ καθαρῷ,
16For Jerusalem shall be built with sapphire and emerald, and thy walls with precious stone, and thy towers and battlements with pure gold.
§13.1717καὶ αἱ πλατεῖαι Ἰερουσαλὴμ βηρύλλῳ καὶ ἄνθρακι καὶ λίθῳ
ἐκ Σουφεὶρ ψηφολογηθήσονται.
17And the streets of Jerusalem shall be paved with beryl and carbuncle and stones of Ophir.
§13.1818καὶ ἐροῦσιν πᾶσαι αἱ ῥῦμαι αὐτῆς ἁλληλουιὰ καὶ αἴνεσιν,
λέγοντες (23)Εὐλογητὸς ὁ θεὸς ὃς ὕψωσεν πάντας τοὺς
αἰῶνας.
18And all her streets shall say, "Hallelujah," and sing praise, saying: (23)"Blessed be God, who has exalted all the ages."
