§10.1aἜγραψεν δὲ ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐπὶ τὴν βασιλείαν τῆς γῆς καὶ τῆς θαλασσης.
And the king imposed tribute upon the kingdom of the land and of the sea.
§10.2aκαὶ τὴν ἰσχὺν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνδραγαθίαν, πλοῦτόν τε καὶ δόξαν τῆς βασιλείας αὐτοῦ, ἰδοὺ γέγραπται ἐν βιβλίῳ βασιλέων Ιερσῶν καὶ Μήδων εἰς μνημόσυνον.
And his power and valor, and the wealth and glory of his kingdom, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of the Persians and Medes as a memorial.
§10.3aὁ δὲ Μαρδοχαῖος διεδέχετο τὸν βασιλέα Ἀρταξέρξην, καὶ μέγας ἦν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ καὶ δεδοξασμένος ὑπὸ τῶν Ἰουδαίων· καὶ φιλούμενος διηγεῖτο τὴν ἀγωγὴν παντὶ τῷ ἔθνει αὐτοῦ.
For Mordecai the Jew was next to King Artaxerxes, and he was great in the kingdom and honored by the Jews; and being loved, he related the welfare of his whole nation.
§10.1Καὶ εἶπεν Μαρδοχαῖς Παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐγένετο ταῦτα. §10.2ἐμνήσθην γὰρ περὶ τοῦ ἐνυπνίου οὗ κἶδον περὶ τῶν λόγων τούτων, οὐδέ γὰρ παρῆλθευ ἀπʼ αὐτῶν λόγος·
And Mordecai said, "These things have come from God." For I remember the dream that I saw concerning these matters, and not a word of them has failed.
§10.3ἡ μικρὰ πηγὴ ἣ ἐγένετο ποταμός. καὶ ἦν φῶς καὶ ἥλιος καὶ ὕδωρ πολύ. Ἐσθήρ ἐστιν ὁ ποταμός, ἣν ἐγάμησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ἐποίησεν βασίλισσαν·
The little spring that became a river, and there was light and sun and much water—the river is Esther, whom the king married and made queen.
§10.4οἱ δὲ δύο δράκοντες, ἐγώ εἰμι καὶ Ἁμάν· §10.5τὰ δὲ ἔθνη, τὰ ἐπισυναχθέντα ἀπολέσαι τὸ ὄνομα τῶν Ἰουδαίων· §10.6τὸ δὲ ἔθνος τὸ ἐμόν, οὗτός ἐστιν Ἰσραὴλ οἱ βοήσαντες πρὸς τὸν θεὸν καὶ σωθέντες.
and the two dragons, are myself and Haman; and the nations are those that gathered to destroy the name of the Jews; and my nation is Israel, those who cried out to God and were saved.
καὶ ἔσωσεν Κύριος τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐρρύσατο Κύριος ἡμᾶς ἐκ πάντων τῶν κακῶν τούτων· καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὰ σημεῖα καὶ τὰ τέρατα τὰ μεγάλα ἃ οὐ γέγονεν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν.
And the Lord saved his people, and the Lord delivered us from all these evils; and God performed great signs and wonders such as have not occurred among the nations.
§10.7διὰ τοῦτο ἐποίησεν κλήρους δύο, ἕνα τῷ λαῷ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἕνα πᾶσι τοῖς ἔθνεσιν·
For this reason he made two lots, one for the people of God and one for all the nations.
§10.8καὶ ᾖλθον οἱ δύο κλῆροι οὗτοι εἰς ὥραν καὶ καιρὸν καὶ εἰς ἡμέραν κρίσεως ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς ἔθνεσιν,
And these two lots came to the hour and time and day of judgment before God and for all the nations.
§10.9καὶ ἐμνήσθη ὁ θεὸς τοῦ λαοῦ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐδικαίωσεν τὴν κληρονομίαν ἑαυτοῦ.
And God remembered his people, and vindicated his inheritance.
§10.10καὶ ἔσονται αὐτοῖς αἱ ἡμέραι αὗται ἐν μηνὶ Ἀδάρ, τῇ τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτῃ καὶ τῇ πεντεκαιδεκάτῃ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνός, μετὰ συναγωγῆς καὶ χαρᾶς καὶ εὐφροσύνης ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ κατὰ γενεὰς εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἐν τῷ λαῷ αὐτοῦ Ἰσραήλ.
And these days in the month of Adar, on the fourteenth and fifteenth of the same month, shall be observed by them with assembly, joy, and gladness before God from generation to generation forever among his people Israel.
§10.11Ἔτους τετάρτου βασιλεύοντος Πτολεμαίου καὶ Κλεοπάτρας εἰσήνεγκεν Δοσίθεος, ὃς ἔφη εἶναι ἱερεὺς καὶ Λευείτης, καὶ Πτολεμαῖος ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ τὴν προκειμένην ἐπιστολὴν τῶν Φρουραί, ἣν ἔφασαν εἶναι καὶ ἑρμηνευκέναι Λυσίμαχον Πτολεμαίου τῶν ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ.
In the fourth year of the reign of Ptolemy and Cleopatra, Dositheus, who said he was a priest and a Levite, and his son Ptolemy brought the preceding letter of Phruraim, which they asserted was authentic and had been translated by Lysimachus, son of Ptolemy, one of those in Jerusalem."
