§11.915ΑΘ.
**ATH.**: "But if anyone rescues a person contrary to this, let him be liable to the action for violence, and if convicted, let him pay double the amount of the assessed damage to the person deprived.
And let him also lead away the freedman, if he does not pay respect to those who freed him, or not sufficiently.
Respect consists in the freed person going three times a month to the hearth of the person who freed him, declaring what he ought to do of things just and at the same time possible, and concerning marriage doing whatever seems fit to his former master.
And it shall not be permitted for him to be wealthier than the person who freed him; let the excess belong to the master.
And the released person shall not remain more than twenty years, but just like the other foreigners, he shall depart, taking all his own property, unless he persuades the magistrates and the person who freed him.
And if the property of the freed person or of any other foreigner becomes greater than the third rating in size, on whatever day this happens, let him depart with his belongings within thirty days from that day, and let there be no further request for extension of stay granted to him by the magistrates.
And if anyone disobeys these and, being brought to court, is convicted, let him be punished with death, and let his property be confiscated.
Let trials for these matters be held in the tribal courts, unless they settle their charges against each other beforehand before neighbors or selected judges.
And if anyone lays hand on any animal or any other of his own properties, claiming it as his own, let the possessor refer to a seller or giver who is trustworthy and legally responsible, or to whoever handed it over to him in some other valid way: within thirty days if referring to a citizen or resident alien of those in the city, but within five months if referring to a foreign delivery, the middle month of which is the one in which the summer sun turns to winter.
As for all things which one exchanges with another by way of purchase or sale, let him exchange them by handing them over and receiving the price on the spot in the place assigned for each in the market, and nowhere else, and let no one make a sale or purchase of anything on credit.
And if one exchanges anything with another in any other manner or in other places, trusting the person with whom he exchanges, let him do this on the understanding that there are no laws for actions concerning things not sold in accordance with the present rules.
Concerning friendly contributions, let anyone who wishes collect contributions among friends; and if any dispute arises concerning the contribution, let them act on the understanding that there will be absolutely no lawsuits concerning these matters."
