§31τὰς κοινὰς τῆς πόλεως συνθήκας παραβὰς ταῖς ἰδίαις πρὸς ἐμὲ ἰσχυρίζεται, ὥσπερ ἄν τινα πεισθέντα ὡς ὁ τῶν πρὸς ὑμᾶς δικαίων καταφρονήσας οὗτος ἂν τῶν πρὸς ἐμὲ ἐφρόντιζεν· ὃς οὕτω πονηρός ἐστι καὶ πανταχοῦ ὅμοιος ὥστε καὶ εἰς Τροιζῆνα ἐλθὼν καὶ ποιησαμένων αὐτὸν Τροιζηνίων πολίτην, ὑποπεσὼν Μνησίαν τὸν Ἀργεῖον καὶ ὑπʼ ἐκείνου καταςταθεὶς ἄρχων, ἐξέβαλεν τοὺς πολίτας ἐκ τῆς πόλεως, ὡς ὑμῖν αὐτοὶ μαρτυρήσουσιν· ἐνθάδε γὰρ φεύγουσιν.
Having transgressed the public agreements of the city, he insists on his private ones with me, as if anyone would be persuaded that this man, who has despised his duties to you, would have cared for his duties to me; who is so wicked and identical everywhere that, even when he went to Troezen and the Troezenians made him a citizen, having fawned upon Mnesias the Argive and being established by him as a ruler, he expelled the citizens from the city, as they themselves will testify to you; for they are refugees here.
§32καὶ ὑμεῖς μέν, ὦ ἄνδρες δικασταί, ἐκπεσόντας αὐτοὺς ὑπεδέξασθε καὶ πολίτας ἐποιήσασθε καὶ τῶν ὑμετέρων ἀγαθῶν πάντων μετέδοτε, ἀπομνημονεύσαντες τὴν εὐεργεσίαν τὴν πρὸς τὸν βάρβαρον διʼ ἐτῶν πλειόνων ἢ πεντήκοντα καὶ ἑκατόν, καὶ οἰόμενοι δεῖν τοὺς ἐν τοῖς κινδύνοις ὑμῖν χρησίμους γενομένους τούτους ἀτυχοῦντας περιςωθῆναι ὑφʼ ὑμῶν.
And you, gentlemen of the jury, received them when they were expelled, made them citizens, and shared all your privileges with them, remembering their benefaction against the barbarian after more than a hundred and fifty years, and thinking that those who had been useful to you in dangers ought, when unfortunate, to be saved by you.
οὗτος δὲ ὁ μιαρός, ὁ ἀφεὶς ὑμᾶς κἀκεῖ ἐγγραφείς, οὔτε τῆς πολιτείας οὔτε τοῦ ἤθους τῆς πόλεως οὐδὲν ἐπετήδευεν ἄξιον ἀλλʼ οὕτως ὠμῶς τοῖς ὑποδεξαμένοις αὐτὸν ἐχρήσατο ὥστε μετα το ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ κατὰ τοῦτο ραν δεδιὼς ιν κατέφυγεν.

§33καὶ ταῦτα ὅτι ἀληθῆ λέγω, ἀναγνώσεται ὑμῖν πρῶτον μὲν τὸν νόμον ὃς οὐκ ἐᾷ τοὺς μετοίκους ἐξοικεῖν ἐν τῷ πολέμῳ, ἔπειτα τὴν Τροιζηνίων μαρτυρίαν, πρὸς δὲ τούτοις τὸ τῶν Τροιζηνίων ψήφισμα ὃ ἐψηφίσαντο τῇ πόλει τῇ ὑμετέρᾳ, διʼ ὃ ὑμεῖς αὐτοὺς ὑπεδέξασθε καὶ πολίτας ἐποιήσασθε.
And to show that I speak the truth in this, the clerk shall read to you first the law which does not allow metics to emigrate in wartime, then the testimony of the Troezenians, and in addition to these, the decree of the Troezenians which they passed for your city, because of which you received them and made them citizens.
