Our Emperor, together with his father, replied to Claudius Callistus in these words: 'As for your desire that you should be exempt from an embassy on account of your father's embassy, this is correctly observed in the intervals between public offices which involve expense; but in the case of the expenses of embassies which are performed by personal service alone, the case is different.'
