[ULPIAN in his third book of Opinions.] The immunity granted to those who have been honorably discharged from military service is valid even in those cities where they are residents; nor is it undermined if any of them, of his own free will, undertakes an honor or a public duty.
§49.18.2.1Uectigalia et patrimoniorum onera sollemnia omnes sustinere oportet.
