[THE SAME, in his eleventh book of Letters.] He who has been ordered to be free under the condition of rendering accounts must prove that good faith is established in all things that have been done by him, so that he has neither subtracted anything from those things which he received, nor written down in his accounts as expended what he had not paid; but he must also pay what is written as remaining with him through the course of the accounts; for he cannot otherwise become free, than if he has in this manner satisfied the condition under which freedom was given.
