[CELSUS, in his twentieth book of Digests.] Plotiana to her dear Celsus, greeting.
Lucius Titius his uerbis ita cauit: 'si quid tabulis alioue quo genere ad hoc testamentum pertinens reliquero, ita ualere uolo'. quaero, an codicilli, qui ante hoc testamentum scripti sunt, debeant rati esse.
Lucius Titius made a provision in these words: 'if I leave anything in writing or in any other manner relating to this testament, I wish it to be valid as such.' I ask whether codicils which were written before this testament ought to be valid.

Juventius Celsus to Plotiana, greeting.
Haec uerba: 'si quid ad hoc testamentum pertinens reliquero, ualere uolo', etiam ea, quae ante testamentum scripta sunt, comprehendere.
These words: 'if I leave anything relating to this testament, I wish it to be valid,' comprise even those things which were written before the testament.
