Having been advised by certain of your letters to begin sending more detailed letters to Caesar, since Balbus recently told me in Lanuvium that he and Oppius had written to Caesar that I had read his books against Cato and highly approved of them, I composed a letter to Caesar about those very books, which was to be delivered to Dolabella; but I sent a copy of it to Oppium and Balbus, and wrote to them that they should then order my letter to be delivered to Dolabella if they themselves approved of the copy.

Thus they wrote back to me that they had never read anything better, and ordered my letter to be given to Dolabella.
