The oath which Hannibal the general, Mago, Myrcan, Barmocar, and all the Carthaginian senators with him, and all Carthaginians serving with him, made to Xenophanes, son of Cleomachus, the Athenian envoy, whom King Philip, son of Demetrius, sent to us on behalf of himself, the Macedonians, and their allies, in the presence of Zeus, Hera, and Apollo; in the presence of the guardian deity of the Carthaginians, of Heracles, and of Iolaus; in the presence of Ares, Triton, and Poseidon; in the presence of the gods who accompany the army, and of the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth; in the presence of rivers, harbors, and waters; in the presence of all the gods who possess Carthage; in the presence of all the gods who possess Macedonia and the rest of Greece; in the presence of all the gods of the campaign, whoever they are that preside over this oath.

Hannibal the general said, and all the Carthaginian senators with him, and all Carthaginians serving with him, that this oath is established, as shall seem good to you and to us, concerning beautiful friendship and goodwill, as friends, kinsmen, and brothers, on the condition that, being preserved by King Philip, the Macedonians, and the other Greeks who are their allies, the Carthaginians, Hannibal the general, those with him, the Carthaginian subjects who use the same laws, the Uticans, all cities and nations subject to Carthage, and their soldiers and allies, shall remain masters of their own, and likewise of all cities and nations with whom we have friendship in Italy, Gaul, and Liguria, and with whomsoever we may establish friendship and alliance in this region.
§7.9.7ἔσται δὲ καὶ Φίλιππος ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ Μακεδόνες καὶ τῶν ἄλλων Ἑλλήνων οἱ σύμμαχοι, σῳζόμενοι καὶ φυλαττόμενοι ὑπὸ Καρχηδονίων τῶν συστρατευομένων καὶ ὑπὸ Ἰτυκαίων καὶ ὑπὸ πασῶν πόλεων καὶ ἐθνῶν ὅσα ἐστὶ Καρχηδονίοις ὑπήκοα, καὶ συμμάχων καὶ στρατιωτῶν, καὶ ὑπὸ πάντων ἐθνῶν καὶ πόλεων ὅσα ἐστὶν ἐν Ἰταλίᾳ καὶ Κελτίᾳ καὶ Λιγυστίνῃ, καὶ ὑπὸ τῶν ἄλλων, ὅσοι ἂν γένωνται σύμμαχοι ἐν τοῖς κατʼ Ἰταλίαν τόποις τούτοις.
And King Philip, the Macedonians, and the other Greek allies shall also be preserved and protected by the Carthaginians serving in the army, by the Uticans, and by all cities and nations subject to Carthage, and by their allies and soldiers, and by all nations and cities in Italy, Gaul, and Liguria, and by any others who may become allies in these regions of Italy.
§7.9.8οὐκ ἐπιβουλεύσομεν ἀλλήλοις οὐδὲ λόχῳ χρησόμεθα ἐπʼ ἀλλήλοις, μετὰ πάσης δὲ προθυμίας καὶ εὐνοίας ἄνευ δόλου καὶ ἐπιβουλῆς ἐσόμεθα πολέμιοι τοῖς πρὸς Καρχηδονίους πολεμοῦσι χωρὶς βασιλέων καὶ πόλεων καὶ λιμένων, πρὸς οὓς ἡμῖν εἰσιν ὅρκοι καὶ φιλίαι.
We will not plot against one another, nor lie in ambush for one another, but with all readiness and goodwill, without deceit or plot, we will be enemies to those who make war on the Carthaginians, except for kings, cities, and harbors with whom we have oaths and friendships.
§7.9.9ἐσόμεθα δὲ καὶ ἡμεῖς πολέμιοι τοῖς πολεμοῦσι πρὸς βασιλέα Φίλιππον χωρὶς βασιλέων καὶ πόλεων καὶ ἐθνῶν, πρὸς οὓς ἡμῖν εἰσιν ὅρκοι καὶ φιλίαι.
And we [the Carthaginians] shall also be enemies to those who make war on King Philip, except for kings, cities, and nations with whom we have oaths and friendships.
§7.9.10ἔσεσθε δὲ καὶ ἡμῖν σύμμαχοι πρὸς τὸν πόλεμον, ὅς ἐστιν ἡμῖν πρὸς Ῥωμαίους, ἕως ἂν ἡμῖν καὶ ὑμῖν οἱ θεοὶ διδῶσι τὴν εὐημερίαν.
And you shall also be allies to us in the war which we are waging against the Romans, until the gods grant prosperity to us and to you.
§7.9.11βοηθήσετε δὲ ἡμῖν, ὡς ἂν χρεία ᾖ καὶ ὡς ἂν συμφωνήσωμεν.
And you shall help us, as there may be need and as we may agree.
§7.9.12ποιησάντων δὲ τῶν θεῶν εὐημερίαν ἡμῖν κατὰ τὸν πόλεμον τὴν πρὸς Ῥωμαίους καὶ τοὺς συμμάχους αὐτῶν, ἂν ἀξιῶσι Ῥωμαῖοι συντίθεσθαι περὶ φιλίας, συνθησόμεθα, ὥστʼ εἶναι πρὸς ὑμᾶς τὴν αὐτὴν φιλίαν, §7.9.13ἐφʼ ᾧτε μὴ ἐξεῖναι αὐτοῖς ἄρασθαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς μηδέποτε πόλεμον, μηδʼ εἶναι Ῥωμαίους κυρίους Κερκυραίων μηδʼ Ἀπολλωνιατῶν καὶ Ἐπιδαμνίων μηδὲ Φάρου μηδὲ Διμάλης καὶ Παρθίνων μηδʼ Ἀτιντανίας.
And when the gods have granted us success in the war against the Romans and their allies, if the Romans request to make a treaty of friendship, we shall make peace, on the condition that the same friendship exists towards you, on condition that it shall never be permitted to them to make war against you, nor shall the Romans be masters of Corcyra, Apollonia, Epidamnus, Pharos, Dimale, the Parthini, or Atintania.
§7.9.14ἀποδώσουσι δὲ καὶ Δημητρίῳ τῷ Φαρίῳ τοὺς οἰκείους πάντας, οἵ εἰσιν ἐν τῷ κοινῷ τῶν Ῥωμαίων.
And they shall also restore to Demetrius of Pharos all his relatives who are in the public custody of the Romans.
§7.9.15ἐὰν δὲ αἴρωνται Ῥωμαῖοι πρὸς ὑμᾶς πόλεμον ἢ πρὸς ἡμᾶς, βοηθήσομεν ἀλλήλοις εἰς τὸν πόλεμον, καθὼς ἂν ἑκατέροις ᾖ χρεία.
And if the Romans should declare war against you or against us, we will assist each other in the war, as each may have need.
§7.9.16ὁμοίως δὲ καὶ ἐάν τινες ἄλλοι χωρὶς βασιλέων καὶ πόλεων καὶ ἐθνῶν, πρὸς ἃ ἡμῖν εἰσιν ὅρκοι καὶ φιλίαι.
And likewise if any others should do so, except for kings, cities, and nations with whom we have oaths and friendships.
§7.9.17ἐὰν δὲ δοκῇ ἡμῖν ἀφελεῖν ἢ προσθεῖναι πρὸς τόνδε τὸν ὅρκον, ἀφελοῦμεν ἢ προσθήσομεν ὡς ἂν ἡμῖν δοκῇ ἀμφοτέροις.
And if we agree to delete from or add to this oath, we will delete or add as may seem good to both of us.
