§15.18.1ἦν δὲ τὰ κεφάλαια τῶν προτεινομένων ταῦτα. πόλεις ἔχειν κατὰ Λιβύην ἃς καὶ πρότερον εἶχον ἢ τὸν τελευταῖον πόλεμον ἐξενεγκεῖν Ῥωμαίοις, καὶ χώραν ἣν καὶ τὸ παλαιὸν εἶχον, κτήνη καὶ σώματα καὶ τὴν ἄλλην ὕπαρξιν, §15.18.2ἀπὸ δὲ τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης ἀσινεῖς Καρχηδονίους ὑπάρχειν, ἔθεσι καὶ νόμοις χρῆσθαι τοῖς ἰδίοις, ἀφρουρήτους ὄντας.
The main heads of the proposals were these: that they should hold the cities in Libya which they had possessed before declaring the last war on the Romans, and the territory which they had from of old, with their herds, slaves, and other property; and that from that day forward the Carthaginians should remain unmolested, governing themselves by their own customs and laws, and being free from garrisons.
§15.18.3ταῦτα μὲν οὖν ἦν τὰ φιλάνθρωπα, τὰ δʼ ἐναντία τούτοις πάλιν τὰ κατὰ τὰς ἀνοχὰς ἀδικήματα γενόμενα πάντα Καρχηδονίους ἀποκαταστῆσαι Ῥωμαίοις, τοὺς αἰχμαλώτους καὶ δραπέτας ἐκ παντὸς ἀποδοῦναι τοῦ χρόνου, τὰ μακρὰ πλοῖα παραδοῦναι πάντα πλὴν δέκα τριήρων, ὁμοίως καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἐλέφαντας.
These then were the concessions; but on the other hand, the counter-demands were that the Carthaginians should restore to the Romans all the wrongs committed during the truce, give up all prisoners and deserters from all times, hand over all their warships except ten triremes, and likewise all their elephants.
§15.18.4πόλεμον μηδενὶ τῶν ἔξω τῆς Λιβύης ἐπιφέρειν καθόλου μηδὲ τῶν ἐν τῇ Λιβύῃ χωρὶς τῆς Ῥωμαίων γνώμης·
They were to make war on no one outside Libya at all, nor on anyone in Libya without the consent of the Romans.
§15.18.5οἰκίας καὶ χώραν καὶ πόλεις, καὶ εἴ τι ἕτερόν ἐστι Μασαννάσου τοῦ βασιλέως ἢ τῶν προγόνων ἐντὸς τῶν ἀποδειχθησομένων ὅρων αὐτοῖς πάντα ἀποδοῦναι Μασαννάσᾳ·
They were to restore to King Masinissa all houses, territory, and cities, and any other property belonging to King Masinissa or his ancestors, within the boundaries which should be assigned to them.
§15.18.6σιτομετρῆσαί τε τὴν δύναμιν τριμήνου καὶ μισθοδοτῆσαι μέχρι ἂν ἐκ Ῥώμης ἀντιφωνηθῇ τι κατὰ τὰς συνθήκας·
They were to provision the Roman army for three months and pay their wages until an answer should be returned from Rome regarding the treaty.
§15.18.7ἐξενεγκεῖν ἀργυρίου τάλαντα μύρια Καρχηδονίους ἐν ἔτεσι πεντήκοντα, φέροντας καθʼ ἕκαστον ἐνιαυτὸν Εὐβοϊκὰ τάλαντα διακόσια·
The Carthaginians were to pay ten thousand talents of silver in fifty years, paying two hundred Euboean talents each year.
§15.18.8ὁμήρους δοῦναι πίστεως χάριν ἑκατὸν οὓς ἂν προγράψῃ τῶν νέων ὁ στρατηγὸς τῶν Ῥωμαίων, μὴ νεωτέρους τετταρεσκαίδεκα ἐτῶν μηδὲ πρεσβυτέρους τριάκοντα.
They were to give as a pledge of good faith one hundred hostages, whom the Roman general should select from their young men, not younger than fourteen years nor older than thirty.
