§1.1ΛΟΓΟΙ Ἀμὼς οἱ ἐγένοντο ἐν Ἀκκαρεὶμ ἐν Θεκοῦε, οὓς εἶδεν ὑπέρ Ἰερουσαλὴμ ἐν ἡμέραις Οζείου βασιλέως Ἰούδα καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις Ἰεροβοὰμ τοῦ Ἰωὰς βασιλέως Ἰσραήλ, πρὸ δύο ἐτῶν τοῦ σεισμοῦ.
The words of Amos, who was in Akkareim in Tekoa, which he saw concerning Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
§1.2Καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος ἐκ Σιὼν ἐφθέγξατο, καὶ ἐξ Ἰερουσαλήμ ἔδωκεν φωνὴν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπένθησαν αἱ νομαὶ τῶν ποιμένων, καὶ ἐξηράνθη ἡ κορυφὴ τοῦ Καρμήλου.
And he said: The Lord roared from Zion, and from Jerusalem he uttered his voice; and the pastures of the shepherds mourned, and the top of Carmel withered.
§1.3Καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος Ἐπὶ ταῖς τρισὶν ἀσεβείαις Δαμασκοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς τέσσαρσιν οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι αὐτόν, ἀνθʼ ὧν ἔπριζον πρίοσιν σιδηροῖς τὰς ἐν γαστρὶ §ἐχούσας τῶν ἐν Γαλαάδ·
And the Lord said: For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away from him, because they threshed with iron saws the women of those in Gilead.
§1.4καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ πῦρ εἰς τὸν οἶκον Ἁζαήλ, καὶ καταφάγεται θεμέλια υἱοῦ Ἁδέρ·
And I will send fire upon the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the foundations of the son of Ader.
§1.5καὶ συντρίψω μοχλοὺς Δαμασκοῦ, καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσω κατοικοῦντας ἐκ πεδίου Ὤν, καὶ κατακόψω φυλὴν ἐξ ἀνδρῶν Χάρράν, καὶ αἰχμαλωτευθήσεται λαὸς Συρίας ἐπίκλητος, λέγει Κύριος.
And I will break the bars of Damascus, and I will destroy the inhabitants from the plain of On, and I will cut off the tribe from the men of Haran; and the famous people of Syria shall be carried captive, says the Lord.
§1.6Τάδε λέγει Κύριος Ἐπὶ ταῖς τρισὶν ἀσεβείαις Γάζης καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς τέσσαρσιν οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι αὐτούς, ἕνεκεν τοῦ αἰχμαλωτεῦσαι αὐτοὺς αἰχμαλωσίαν τοῦ Σαλωμών, τοῦ συγκλεῖσαι εἰς τὴν Ἰδουμαίαν·
Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away from them, because they carried captive a complete captivity of Solomon, to shut them up into Idumea.
§1.7καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ πῦρ ἐπὶ τὰ τείχη Γάζης, καὶ καταφάγεται θεμέλια αὐτῆς.
And I will send fire on the walls of Gaza, and it shall devour her foundations.
§1.8καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσω κατοικοῦντας ἐξ Ἀζώτου, καὶ ἐξαρθήσεται φυλὴ ἐξ Ἀσκάλωνος, καὶ ἐπάξω τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπὶ Ἀκκαρών, καὶ ἀπολοῦνται οἱ κατάλοιποι τῶν ἀλλοφύλων, λέγει Κύριος.
And I will destroy the inhabitants from Azotus, and the tribe shall be removed from Ascalon, and I will stretch out my hand against Accaron; and the remnant of the foreigners shall perish, says the Lord.
§1.9Τάδε λέγει Κύριος Ἐπὶ ταῖς τρισὶν ἀσεβείαις Γύρου καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς τέσσαρσιν οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι αὐτήν, ἀνθʼ ὧν συνέκλεισαν αἰχμαλωσίαν τοῦ Σαλωμὼν εἰς τὴν Ἰδουμαίαν, καὶ οὐκ ἐμνήσθησαν διαθήκης ἀδελφῶν·
Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Tyre, and for four, I will not turn away from her, because they shut up the captivity of Solomon into Idumea, and did not remember the covenant of brothers.
§1.10καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ πῦρ ἐπὶ τὰ¶ τείχη Τύρου, καὶ καταφάγεται τὰ θεμέλια αὐτῆς.
And I will send fire on the¶ walls of Tyre, and it shall devour her foundations.
§1.11Τάδε λέγει Κύριος Ἐπὶ ταῖς τρισὶν ἀσεβείαις τῆς Ἰδουμαίας καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς τέσσαρσιν οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι αὐτούς, ἕνεκα τοῦ διῶξαι αὐτοὺς ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐλυμήνατο μητέρα ἐπὶ γῆς. καὶ ἥρπασεν εἰς μαρτύριον φρίκην αὐτοῦ, καὶ τὸ ὅρμημα αὐτοῦ ἐφύλαξεν εἰς νῖκος·
Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Idumea, and for four, I will not turn away from them, because they pursued his brother with the sword, and destroyed a mother upon the earth; and he snatched his horror for a testimony, and kept his wrath to the end.
§1.12καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ πῦρ εἰς Θαιμάν, καὶ καταφάγεται θεμέλια τειχέων αὐτῆς.
And I will send fire into Teman, and it shall devour the foundations of her walls.
§1.13Τάδε λέγει Κύριος Ἐπὶ ταῖς τρισὶν ἀσεβείαις υἱῶν Ἀμμὼν καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς τέσσαρσιν οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι αὐτόν, ἀνθʼ ὧν ἀνέσχιζον τὰς ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσας τῶν Γαλααδειτῶν, ὅπως ἐνπλατύνωσιν τὰ ὅρια ἑαυτῶν·
Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of the sons of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away from him, because they ripped open the pregnant women of the Gileadites, that they might enlarge their borders.
§1.14καὶ ἀνάψω πῦρ ἐπὶ τὰ τείχη Ῥαββά, καὶ καταφάγεται θεμέλια αὐτῆς μετὰ κραυγῆς ἐν ἡμέρᾳ πολέμου, καὶ σεισθήσεται ἐν ἡμέραις συντελείας αὐτῆς·
And I will kindle a fire on the walls of Rabbah, and it shall devour her foundations with shouting in the day of battle, and it shall be shaken in the days of her destruction.
§1.15καὶ πορεύσονται οἱ βασιλεῖς αὐτῆς ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ, οἱ ἱερεῖς αὐτῶν καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό, λέγει Κύριος.
And her kings shall go into captivity, their priests and their rulers together, says the Lord.
