Samaria shall be destroyed, because she has rebelled against her God; they shall fall by the sword, and their infants shall be dashed to the ground, and their pregnant women shall be ripped open.
Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, because you have fallen by your injustices.
Take words with you and return to the Lord your God; say to him, so that you may not receive injustice and may receive good things, and we will return the fruit of our lips.
Assyria shall by no means save us, we will not ride upon horses; no longer shall we say, 'Our gods,' to the works of our hands; for in you the orphan shall find mercy.
I will heal their dwellings, I will love them freely, because my anger has turned away from him.
I will be as dew to Israel; he shall bloom as a lily, and shall cast forth his roots as Lebanon.
His branches shall spread, and he shall be as a fruitful olive tree, and his fragrance as that of Lebanon.
They shall return and dwell under his shadow; they shall live and be satisfied with corn; and he shall blossom as a vine; his memorial shall be as the wine of Lebanon.
§14.9τῷ Ἐφράιμ, τί αὐτῷ ἔτι καὶ εἰδώλοις;
As for Ephraim, what has he to do any more with idols?
I have humbled him, and I will strengthen him; I am as a leafy juniper tree; from me is your fruit found.
§14.10τίς σοφὸς καὶ συνήσει ταῦτα;
Who is wise, and will understand these things?
ἡ συνετὸς καὶ ἐπιγνώσεται αὐτά;
Or prudent, and will know them?
For the ways of the Lord are straight, and the righteous shall walk in them, but the ungodly shall stumble in them.
