§3.1Ειπεν δὲ αὐτῇ Νωεμεὶν ἡ πενθερὰ αὐτῆς Θυγάτηρ, οὐ μὴ σοι ἀνάπαυσιν ἵνα εὖ γένηται σοι; §3.2καὶ νῦν οὐχὶ Βόος γνώριμος ἡ οὗ ἦς μετὰ τῶν κορασίων αὐτοῦ;
And Naomi her mother-in-law said unto her, "My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?" "And now, is not Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens thou wast?
ἰδοὺ αὐτὸς λικμᾷ τὸν ἅλωνα τῶν κριθῶν ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτί. §3.3σὺ δὲ λούσῃ καὶ ἀλείψῃ καὶ περιθησεις τὸν ἱματισμόν σου ἐπὶ σέ, καὶ ἀναβήσῃ ἐπὶ τὸν ἅλω· μὴ γνωρισθῇς τῷ ὶ ἕως οὗ συντελέσαι αὐτὸν πιεῖν καὶ φαγεῖν· §3.4καὶ ἱστᾶι ἐν τὼ ι αὐτὸν καὶ γνώσῃ τὸν τόπον ὅπου κοιμᾶται ἐκεῖ, καὶ ἐλεύσῃ καὶ ἀποκαλύψεις τὰ πρὸς ποδῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ κοιμηθήσῃ, καὶ αὐτὸς ἀπαγγελεῖ σοι αἰ ποιήσεις. §3.5εἶπεν δὲ ῾Ροὺθ πρὸς αὐτήν αὐτήν Πάντα ἐὰν εἴπῃς ποιήσω. §3.6καὶ κατέβη εἰς τὸν ἅλω, καὶ ἐποίησεν κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἐνετείλατο αὐτῇ ἡ πενθερὰ αὐτῆς.
Behold, he winnoweth barley tonight in the threshingfloor." "Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee up to the threshingfloor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking." "And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do." And Ruth said unto her, "All that thou sayest I will do." And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law bade her.
§3.7καὶ ἔφαγεν Βόος καὶ ἠγαθύνθη ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἦλθεν κοιμηθῆναι ἐν μερίδι τῆς στοιβῆς· ἡ δὲ ἦλθεν κρυφῆ καὶ ἀπεκάλυψεν τὰ πρὸς ποδῶν αὐτοῦ.
And when Boaz had eaten and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet.
§3.8ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ μεσονυκτίῳ καὶ ἐξέστη ὁ ἀνὴρ καὶ ἐταράχθη, καὶ ἰδοὺ γυνὴ κοιμᾶται πρὸς ποδῶν αὐτοῦ.
And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and troubled: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.
§3.9εἰπεν δέ τίς εἰ σύ; ἡ δὲ εἶπεν ᾿Εγώ εἰμι ῾Ρούθ ἡ δούλη σου, καὶ περιβαλεῖς τὸ πτερύγιόν σου ἐπὶ τὴν δούλην σου, ὅτι ἀγχιστεὺς εἶ σύ. §3.10καὶ εἶπεν Βόος Εὐλογημένη σὺ τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ, θύγατερ, ὅτι ἠγάθυνας τὸ ἐλεός σου τὸ ἔσχατον ὑπὲρ τὸ πρῶτον τὸ μή πορευθῆναι νεανιῶν, εἴτοι πτωχὸς εἴτοι πλούσιος. §3.11καὶ νῦν, θύγατερ, πάντα ὅσα ἐὰν εἴπῃς ποιήσω σοι· οἶδεν γὰρ πᾶσα φυλή λαοῦ μου ὅτι γυνὴ δυνάμεως εἰ σύ. §3.12καὶ ὅτι ἀληθῶς ἀγχιστεὺς ἐγώ εἰμι· καί γέ ἐστιν ἀγχιστεὺς ἐγγίων ὑπὲρ ἐμέ. §3.13αὐλίσθητι τὴν νύκτα, καὶ ὦσται τὸ πρωὶ ἐὰν ἀγχιστε΄πυσῃ σε, ἀγαθόν, ἀγχιστευέτω·
And he said, "Who art thou?" And she answered, "I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman." And Boaz said, "Blessed be thou of the Lord God, my daughter: for thou hast shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich." "And now, my daughter, I will do to thee all that thou sayest: for all the tribe of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman." "And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I." "Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the Lord liveth.
ἐὰν δὲ μὴ βούληται ἀγχιστεῦσαί σε, ἀγχιστεύσω σε ἐγώ, ζῇ Κύριος, σὺ εἶ κύριος·
You are the master.
κοιμήθητι ἕως πρωί. §3.14καὶ ἐκοιμήθη πρὸς ποδῶν αὐτοῦ ἕως πρωί· ἡ δὲ ἐνέστη πρὸ τοῦ ἐπιγνῶναι ἄνδρα τὸν πλησίον αὐτοῦ·
Lie down until the morning." And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another.
καὶ εἶπεν Βόος Μὴ γνωσθήτω ὅτι ἦλθεν γυνή εἰς τὴν ἅλωνα. §3.15καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Φέρε τὸ περίζωμα τὸ ἐπάνω σου. καὶ ἐκρότησεν αὐτό, καὶ ἐμέτρησεν ἕξ κριθῶν καὶ ἐπέθηκεν ἐπ’ αὐτήν· καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὴν πόλιν.
And Boaz said, "Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor." Also he said, "Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee." And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and he went into the city.
§3.16καὶ ῾Ροὺθ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς τὴν πενθερὰν αὐτῆς· ἡ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Θύγατερ· καὶ εἶπεν αὐτὴ πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησεν αὐτῇ ὁ ἀνήρ.
And Ruth came to her mother-in-law, who said, "My daughter?" And she told her all that the man had done to her.
§3.17καὶ εἶπεν οὐτῇ Τὰ ἕξ τῶν κριθῶν ταῦτα ἔδωκέν μοι, ὅτι εἶπεν πρὸς μέ Μὴ εἰσέλθῃς κενὴ πρὸς τὴν πενθεράν σου. §3.18ἡ δὲ εἶπεν Κάθου, θύγατερ, ἕως τοῦ ἐπιγνῶναί σε πῶς οὐ πεσεῖται ῥῆμα· οὐ γὰρ μὴ ἡσυχάσῃ ὁ ἀνὴρ ἕως ἀν’ τελέσῃ τὸ ῥῆμα σήμερον.
And she said, "These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, 'Go not empty unto thy mother-in-law.'" Then said she, "Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day."
