For they will surely not say that the lips and the nostrils correspond to the arteries.

And of this double and composite movement of the arteries, which indeed we also call pulsation, the heart is the leader, just as has been demonstrated both by us in other treatises and by countless others before us; not indeed in the way that Erasistratus supposed, but as Herophilus and Hippocrates, and almost all the most esteemed of the ancient doctors and philosophers did.
