Upon the deposition of Demaratus, Leotychides, the son of Menares, succeeded to the kingship; and to him was born a son, Zeuxidamus, whom indeed some of the Spartans called Cyniscus.
This Zeuxidamus did not rule over Sparta, for he died before Leotychides, leaving behind a son, Archidamus.
Leotychides, having been bereaved of Zeuxidamus, married a second wife, Eurydame, who was the sister of Menius and daughter of Diactorides. By her no male issue was born to him, but a daughter, Lampito, whom Archidamus, the son of Zeuxidamus, married, Leotychides having given her to him.
