[PAPINIANUS, in his seventh book of Responses.] Codicils made before the tablets of a will are not otherwise valid than if they are confirmed by the will which was subsequently made or by codicils, or if their intention is retained by any indication whatsoever; but those things concerning which the deceased most recently decided otherwise shall not be observed.
