§2.1καὶ ἔστησεν Κύριος τὸν κόγον αὐτοῦ ὃν ἐλάλησεν ἐφʼ ἡμᾶς καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς δικαστὰς ἡμῶν τοὺς δικάσαντας τὺν Ἰσραὴλ κιὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς βασιλεῖς ἡμῶν κιὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας ἡμῶν καὶ ἐπὶ ἄνθρωπον Ἰσραὴλ καὶ Ἰούδα.
And the Lord has confirmed his word, which he spoke against us, and against our judges who judged Israel, and against our kings, and against our princes, and against the men of Israel and Judah.
§2.2οὐκ ἐποιήθη ὑποκάτω παντὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καθὰ ἐποίησεν ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ, κατὰ τὰ γεγραμμένα ἐν τῷ νόμῳ Μωυσῆ, §2.3τοῦ φαγεῖν ἡμᾶς ἄνθρωπον σάρκας υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἄνθρωπον σάρκας θυγατρὸς αὐτοῦ,
Under the whole heaven there has not been done the like of what he has done in Jerusalem, according to the things that are written in the law of Moses, that we should eat, one the flesh of his own son, and another the flesh of his own daughter.
§2.4καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοὺς ὑποχειρίους πάσαις ταῖς βασιλείαις ταῖς κύκλῳ ἡμῶν, εἰς ὀνειδισμὸν Κύριος ἐκεῖ.
And he gave them into subjection to all the kingdoms around us, to be a reproach [where] the Lord [scattered them] there.
§2.5καὶ ἐγενήθησαν ὑποκάτω καὶ οὐκ ἐπάνω, ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν Κυρίῳ θεῷ ἡμῶν, πρὸς τὸ μὴ ἀκούειν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ.
And they were cast down and not exalted, because we sinned against the Lord our God, in not heeding his voice.
§2.6Τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ ἡμῶν ἡ δικαιοσύνη, ἡμῖν δὲ καὶ τοῖς πατράσιν ἡμῶν ἡ αἰσχύνη τῶν προσώπων ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη.
Righteousness belongs to the Lord our God, but to us and our fathers confusion of face, as at this day.
§2.7ἅ ἐλάλησεν Κύριος ἐφʼ ἡμᾶς, πάντα τὰ κακὰ ταῦτα ἃ ἥλθεν ἐφʼ ἡμᾶς.
All these calamities have come upon us, which the Lord pronounced against us.
§2.8καὶ οὐκ ἐδεἡθημεν τοῦ προσώπου Κυρίου τοῦ ἀποστρέψαι ἕκαστον ἀπὸ τῶν νοημάτων τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν τῆς πονηρᾶς.
Yet we have not entreated the favor of the Lord by turning, every one of us, from the thoughts of his evil heart.
§2.9καὶ ἐγρηγόρησεν Κύριος ἐπὶ τοῖς κακοῖς, καὶ ἐπήγαγε Κύριος ἐφʼ ἡμᾶς, ὅτι δίκαιος ὁ κύριος ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ ἄ ἐνετείλατο ἡμῖν.
And the Lord has kept watch over the calamities, and the Lord has brought them upon us; for the Lord is righteous in all his works which he has commanded us.
§2.10καὶ οὐκ ἠκούσαμεν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ, πορεύεσθαι τοῖς προστάγμασιν Κυρίου οἰς ἔδωκεν κατὰ πρόσαωπον ἡμῶν.
Yet we have not heeded his voice, to walk in the statutes of the Lord which he set before us.
§2.11Καὶ νῦν, Κύριε ὁ θεὸς Ἰσραήλ, ὸς ἐξήγαγες τὸν λαόν σου ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου ἐν χειρὶ κραταιῷ, ἐν σημείοις καὶ ἐν τέρασιν καὶ ἐν δυνάμει μεγάλῃ καὶ ἐν βραχίονι ὑψηλῷ, καὶ ἐποίησας σεαυτῷ ὄνομα ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη, §2.12ἡμάρτομεν, ἡσεββήσαμεν, ἠδικήσαμεν, Κύριε ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν, ἐπὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς δικαιώμασίν σου.
And now, O Lord God of Israel, who didst bring thy people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with signs and wonders, and with great power, and with an outstretched arm, and hast made thee a name, as at this day: we have sinned, we have done ungodly, we have dealt unrighteously, O Lord our God, against all thy ordinances.
§2.13ἀποστραφήτω ὁ θυμός σου ἀφʼ ἡμῶν, ὅτι κατελείφθημεν ὀλίγοι ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν οὄ διέσπειρας ἡμᾶς ἐκεῖ
Let thy wrath turn from us; for we are left but a few among the heathen, where thou hast scattered us.
§2.14εἰσάκουσον, Κύριε, τῆς προσευχῆς ἡμῶν καὶ τῆς δεήσεως ἡμῶν, καὶ ἐξελοῦ ἡμᾶς ἕνεκεν σοῦ καὶ δὸς ἡμῖν χάριν κατὰ πρόσωπον τῶν ἀποικισάντων ἡμᾶς, §2.15ἴνα γνῷ πᾶσα ἡ γῆ ὅτι σὺ Κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν, ὅτι τὸ ὄνομά σου ἐπεκλήθη ἐπὶ Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ γένος αὐτοῦ.
Hear, O Lord, our prayer and our supplication, and deliver us for thine own sake, and give us favor in the sight of those who have led us into exile; that all the earth may know that thou art the Lord our God, because thy name is called upon Israel and his posterity.
§2.16Κύριε, κάτιδε ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ ἁγίου σου καὶ ἐννόησον εἰς ἡμᾶς· κλῖνον, Κύριε, τὸ οὗς σου καὶ ἄκουσον.
O Lord, look down from thy holy house, and consider us; bow down thine ear, O Lord, and hear.
§2.17ἄνοιξον ὀφθαλμούς σου καὶ ἴδε ὅτι οὐχ οἱ τεθνηκότες ἐν τῷ ᾅδῃ, ὧν ἐλήμφθη τὸ πνεῦμα αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τῶν σπλάγχνοων αὐτῶν, δώσουσιν δόξαν καὶ δικαίωμα τῷ κυρίῳ· §2.18ἀλλὰ ἡ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ ἡ λυπουμένη ἐπὶ τὸ μέγεθος, ὃ βαδίζει κύπτον καὶ ἀσθενοῦν, καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ οἱ ἐκλείποντες καὶ ἡ ψυχὴ ἡ πεινῶσα δώσουσίν σοι δόξαν καὶ δικαιοσύνην, Κύριε.
open thine eyes, and behold; for the dead that are in Hades, whose spirit is taken from their bodies, will give unto the Lord neither glory nor righteousness; but the soul that is greatly vexed, which goeth stooping and feeble, and the eyes that fail, and the hungry soul, will give thee glory and righteousness, O Lord.
