§6.1Συνεργοῦντες δὲ καὶ παρακαλοῦμεν μὴ εἰς κενὸν τὴν χάριν τοῦ θεοῦ δέξασθαι ὑμᾶς·
Working together with him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.
§6.2λέγει γάρ
"
Καιρῷ δεκτῷ ἐπήκουσά σου
καὶ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ σωτηρίας ἐβοήθησά σοι· "
ἰδοὺ νῦν
"καιρὸς εὐπρόσδεκτος,"
ἰδοὺ νῦν
"ἡμέρα σωτηρίας· "
For he says, 'In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.' Behold, now is the 'favorable time'; behold, now is the 'day of salvation'.
§6.3μηδεμίαν ἐν μηδενὶ διδόντες προσκοπήν, ἵνα μὴ μωμηθῇ ἡ διακονία, §6.4ἀλλʼ ἐν παντὶ συνιστάνοντες ἑαυτοὺς ὡς θεοῦ διάκονοι· ἐν ὑπομονῇ πολλῇ, ἐν θλίψεσιν, ἐν ἀνάγκαις, ἐν στενοχωρίαις, §6.5ἐν πληγαῖς, ἐν φυλακαῖς, ἐν ἀκαταστασίαις, ἐν κόποις, ἐν ἀγρυπνίαις, ἐν νηστείαις, §6.6ἐν ἁγνότητι, ἐν γνώσει, ἐν μακροθυμίᾳ, ἐν χρηστότητι, ἐν πνεύματι ἁγίῳ, ἐν ἀγάπῃ ἀνυποκρίτῳ, §6.7ἐν λόγῳ ἀληθείας, ἐν δυνάμει θεοῦ· διὰ τῶν ὅπλων τῆς δικαιοσύνης τῶν δεξιῶν καὶ ἀριστερῶν, διὰ δόξης §6.8καὶ ἀτιμίας, διὰ δυσφημίας καὶ εὐφημίας·
We put no obstacle in anyone's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry, but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: by great endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in calamities, beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless nights, hunger; by purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love; by truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left; through honor and dishonor, through slander and praise.
§6.9ὡς πλάνοι καὶ ἀληθεῖς, ὡς ἀγνοούμενοι καὶ ἐπιγινωσκόμενοι, ὡς
"ἀποθνήσκοντες"
καὶ ἰδοὺ
"ζῶμεν,"
ὡς
"παιδευόμενοι καὶ μὴ θανατούμενοι," §6.10ὡς λυπούμενοι ἀεὶ δὲ χαίροντες, ὡς πτωχοὶ πολλοὺς δὲ πλουτίζοντες, ὡς μηδὲν ἔχοντες καὶ πάντα κατέχοντες.
We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.
§6.11Τὸ στόμα ἡμῶν ἀνέῳγεν πρὸς ὑμᾶς, Κορίνθιοι,
"ἡ καρδία"
ἡμῶν
"πεπλάτυνται· "
We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians; our heart is wide open.
§6.12οὐ στενοχωρεῖσθε ἐν ἡμῖν, στενοχωρεῖσθε δὲ ἐν τοῖς σπλάγχνοις ὑμῶν·
You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affections.
§6.13τὴν δὲ αὐτὴν ἀντιμισθίαν, ὡς τέκνοις λέγω, πλατύνθητε καὶ ὑμεῖς.
In return (I speak as to children), widen your hearts also.
§6.14Μὴ γίνεσθε ἑτεροζυγοῦντες ἀπίστοις·
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers.
τίς γὰρ μετοχὴ δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ ἀνομίᾳ, ἢ τίς κοινωνία φωτὶ πρὸς σκότος;
For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?
§6.15τίς δὲ συμφώνησις Χριστοῦ πρὸς Βελίαρ, ἢ τίς μερὶς πιστῷ μετὰ ἀπίστου;
What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?
§6.16τίς δὲ συνκατάθεσις ναῷ θεοῦ μετὰ εἰδώλων;
What agreement has the temple of God with idols?
ἡμεῖς γὰρ ναὸς θεοῦ ἐσμὲν ζῶντος· καθὼς εἶπεν ὁ θεὸς ὅτι
"Ἐνοικήσω ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐνπεριπατήσω,"
"καὶ ἔσομαι αὐτῶν θεός, καὶ αὐτοὶ ἔσονταί μου λαός. " §6.17διὸ
"ἐξέλθατε ἐκ μέσου αὐτῶν,"
"καὶ ἀφορίσθητε,"
λέγει Κύριος,
καὶ
"ἀκαθάρτου μὴ ἅπτεσθε· "
κἀγὼ
"εἰσδέξομαι ὑμᾶς· " §6.18καὶ
"ἔσομαι"
ὑμῖν
"εἰς πατέρα,"
"καὶ"
ὑμεῖς ἔσεσθέ
"μοι εἰς υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέρας,"
"λέγει Κύριος Παντοκράτωρ. "
For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, 'I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.' Therefore 'go out from their midst, and be separate from them,' says the Lord, 'and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you,' and 'I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me,' says the Lord Almighty.
