§13.1Τρίτον τοῦτο ἔρχομαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς·
This is the third time I am coming to you.
"ἐπὶ στόματος δύο μαρτύρων καὶ τριῶν σταθήσεται πᾶν ῥῆμα. " §13.2προείρηκα καὶ προλέγω ὡς παρὼν τὸ δεύτερον καὶ ἀπὼν νῦν τοῖς προημαρτηκόσιν καὶ τοῖς λοιποῖς πᾶσιν, ὅτι ἐὰν ἔλθω εἰς τὸ πάλιν οὐ φείσομαι, §13.3ἐπεὶ δοκιμὴν ζητεῖτε τοῦ ἐν ἐμοὶ λαλοῦντος χριστοῦ·
"On the evidence of two or three witnesses every charge shall be sustained." I warned them before and forewarn now, as when present the second time and now absent, those who sinned before and all the others, that if I come again I will not spare— since you desire proof of Christ who is speaking in me.
ὃς εἰς ὑμᾶς οὐκ ἀσθενεῖ ἀλλὰ δυνατεῖ ἐν ὑμῖν,
He is not weak toward you, but is powerful among you.
§13.4καὶ γὰρ ἐσταυρώθη ἐξ ἀσθενείας, ἀλλὰ ζῇ ἐκ δυνάμεως θεοῦ.
For he was crucified in weakness, but lives by the power of God.
καὶ γὰρ ἡμεῖς ἀσθενοῦμεν ἐν αὐτῷ, ἀλλὰ ζήσομεν σὺν αὐτῷ ἐκ δυνάμεως θεοῦ [εἰς ὑμᾶς].
For we also are weak in him, but we will live with him by the power of God [toward you].
§13.5Ἑαυτοὺς πειράζετε εἰ ἐστὲ ἐν τῇ πίστει, ἑαυτοὺς δοκιμάζετε·
Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves.
ἢ οὐκ ἐπιγινώσκετε ἑαυτοὺς ὅτι Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς ἐν ὑμῖν; εἰ μήτι ἀδόκιμοί ἐστε.
Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!
§13.6ἐλπίζω δὲ ὅτι γνώσεσθε ὅτι ἡμεῖς οὐκ ἐσμὲν ἀδόκιμοι.
I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test.
§13.7εὐχόμεθα δὲ πρὸς τὸν θεὸν μὴ ποιῆσαι ὑμᾶς κακὸν μηδέν, οὐχ ἵνα ἡμεῖς δόκιμοι φανῶμεν, ἀλλʼ ἵνα ὑμεῖς τὸ καλὸν ποιῆτε, ἡμεῖς δὲ ὡς ἀδόκιμοι ὦμεν.
But we pray to God that you may not do any wrong—not that we may appear to have met the test, but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed.
§13.8οὐ γὰρ δυνάμεθά τι κατὰ τῆς ἀληθείας, ἀλλὰ ὑπὲρ τῆς ἀληθείας.
For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.
§13.9χαίρομεν γὰρ ὅταν ἡμεῖς ἀσθενῶμεν, ὑμεῖς δὲ δυνατοὶ ἦτε·
For we glad when we are weak and you are strong.
τοῦτο καὶ εὐχόμεθα, τὴν ὑμῶν κατάρτισιν.
Your restoration is what we pray for.
§13.10Διὰ τοῦτο ταῦτα ἀπὼν γράφω, ἵνα παρὼν μὴ ἀποτόμως χρήσωμαι κατὰ τὴν ἐξουσίαν ἣν ὁ κύριος ἔδωκέν μοι, εἰς οἰκοδομὴν καὶ οὐκ εἰς καθαίρεσιν.
For this reason I write these things while I am away from you, that when I come I may not have to be severe in my use of the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.
§13.11Λοιπόν, ἀδελφοί, χαίρετε, καταρτίζεσθε, παρακαλεῖσθε, τὸ αὐτὸ φρονεῖτε, εἰρηνεύετε, καὶ ὁ θεὸς τῆς ἀγάπης καὶ εἰρήνης ἔσται μεθʼ ὑμῶν.
Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
§13.12Ἀσπάσασθε ἀλλήλους ἐν ἁγίῳ φιλήματι.
Greet one another with a holy kiss.
Ἀσπάζονται ὑμᾶς οἱ ἅγιοι πάντες.
All the saints greet you.
§13.13Ἡ χάρις τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ [Χριστοῦ] καὶ ἡ ἀγάπη τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἡ κοινωνία τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος μετὰ πάντων ὑμῶν.
The grace of the Lord Jesus [Christ] and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
