Alcibiades spoke thus much; and the Lacedaemonians, who even of themselves had previously intended to make an expedition against Athens, but were still delaying and looking about them, were much more encouraged when he had explained all these details to them, believing that they had heard them from the one who knew them most clearly.
§6.93.2ὥστε τῇ ἐπιτειχίσει τῆς Δεκελείας προσεῖχον ἤδη τὸν νοῦν καὶ τὸ παραυτίκα καὶ τοῖς ἐν τῇ Σικελίᾳ πέμπειν τινὰ τιμωρίαν.
Consequently, they already turned their attention to the fortifying of Decelea, and at the same time to sending some assistance to those in Sicily.

And having appointed Gylippus, the son of Cleandridas, as commander for the Syracusans, they ordered him, in consultation with them and the Corinthians, to take measures so that some help might reach those there in the most effective and quickest way possible under the circumstances.
§6.93.3ὁ δὲ δύο μὲν ναῦς τοὺς Κορινθίους ἤδη ἐκέλευέν οἱ πέμπειν ἐς Ἀσίνην, τὰς δὲ λοιπὰς παρασκευάζεσθαι ὅσας διανοοῦνται πέμπειν καί, ὅταν καιρὸς ᾖ, ἑτοίμας εἶναι πλεῖν.
He ordered the Corinthians to send two ships to him at Asine immediately, and to prepare the rest of the ships they intended to send, so that they would be ready to sail whenever the opportunity arose.
ταῦτα δὲ ξυνθέμενοι ἀνεχώρουν ἐκ τῆς Λακεδαίμονος.
Having agreed on these matters, they departed from Lacedaemon.
§6.93.4ἀφίκετο δὲ καὶ ἡ ἐκ τῆς Σικελίας τριήρης τῶν Ἀθηναίων, ἣν ἀπέστειλαν οἱ στρατηγοὶ ἐπί τε χρήματα καὶ ἱππέας.
And the Athenian trireme from Sicily also arrived, which the generals had sent for money and cavalry.
καὶ οἱ Ἀθηναῖοι ἀκούσαντες ἐψηφίσαντο τήν τε τροφὴν πέμπειν τῇ στρατιᾷ καὶ τοὺς ἱππέας.
And the Athenians, having heard this, voted to send both the maintenance funds for the army and the cavalry.
καὶ ὁ χειμὼν ἐτελεύτα, καὶ ἕβδομον καὶ δέκατον ἔτος τῷ πολέμῳ ἐτελεύτα τῷδε ὃν Θουκυδίδης ξυνέγραψεν.
And the winter ended, and so ended the seventeenth year of this war of which Thucydides wrote.
