Syntax notes2 items
  1. 3.3.57.printellegendus est permittere

The gerundive 'intellegendus' with 'est' forms a passive periphrastic conjugation expressing necessity ('must be understood'). 'permittere' is an infinitive depending on this construction, taking the dative 'procuratori' and the infinitive 'peragere'.

  2. 3.3.57.1ex paenitentia

The preposition 'ex' with the ablative 'paenitentia' (repentance, change of mind) indicates the cause or motive ('due to a change of mind', 'out of regret').
