  1. 3.4.9.prfamiliae erciscundae

The noun familia (here, 'patrimony' or 'inheritance') is in agreement with the gerundive of ercisco ('to divide'). It modifies iudicium, meaning 'action for the division of an inheritance'. The same gerundive construction is found in finium regundorum ('for regulating boundaries') and aquae pluuiae arcendae ('for warding off rainwater').

  2. 3.4.9.printer uos

The plural accusative pronoun uos is used to encompass both the individual ('you', tibi) and the members of the municipality ('municipes', plural), demonstrating that these actions can lie between a private individual and a collective body.

  3. 3.4.9.prredditur

A technical legal term meaning that the magistrate (such as the praetor) 'grants' or 'allows' an action (formula) to the parties.
