§15.26a.1

That Agathocles put to death Deinon, the son of Deinon, and in doing so performed, as the proverb says, the most just of his unjust deeds. For at the time when, the letter concerning the murder of Arsinoe having reached him, he had the opportunity to reveal the plot and save the state, he then instead co-operated with Philammon’s party and became the cause of all the evils that followed. But after the murder had been committed, by reviving the matter, lamenting before many people, and regretting that he had let slip such an opportunity, he made his feelings manifest to Agathocles and his faction; wherefore, immediately receiving his fitting punishment, he departed this life.
